'Australia', Rangers, Frozen Grit, Plumbers and the Moon Buggy!
Saw the film 'Australia' the other day in Inverness. Recommended. An epic. Two films in one really. Off to see "The Reader" next weekend. Sounds like a good one too.
Inverness lost 3 - 0 to Rangers today. A watchable game. Good event, just a shame about the score. Aly MaCoist was highly watchable during the game - didn't realize he could get so animated. Walter Smith (Rangers manager) was his usual inscrutable self. Craig Brewster (Inverness manager) is under pressure just now with the team at the bottom of the table but still plenty of time to sort that little problem out.
"The Plot" remains frozen although the temperature did reach 4 degrees today. Speculation about a minus 8 over night might - hopefully - be an exaggeration. The piles of grit at the top of our drive remain frozen solid, however, and are as dense as concrete.
The holiday is over and gardening recommences tomorrow (unless all is frozen, in which case there are a few trees in the garden that might get the chop, and a polytunnel to sort out of course). Before the gardening commences I must try and find a plumber - major trouble with the water pump just now and none of us relish the only source of water in the house being one cold tap in the kitchen! Plumbers are not easy to find in this part of the world.
The latest "Rural Rambling" for the Ross-shire Journal is complete and ready to send off tomorrow. Should be in the Journal this coming Friday. It tells of an old acquaintance of mine, Claude, now deceased, who was one of the folks who designed the moon buggy. A good man, Claude.
